Time to choose - New Year Camp in Norway
Lia Gård in Norway, 28. Dec – 2. January 2009/2010
We invite you to come and take the time with us over New Year.
We live in one of the richest parts of the world, yet we are not content.
Europe is known for the equality and security of its citizens- yet our ways of protecting our privileges from the outside world are getting more and more cruel.
We are one of the most peaceful continents in the world – yet so many of us are at war in our own families.
The environment and future of our globe is threatened – yet we fail to make the changes in our life that is needed to reduce global warming and prevent disaster.
It is said that to whom much is given, from him much will be required….it’s time to choose.
Together we need to take the time
- to listen – within, and to each other
- to share – our concerns, convictions and hopes
- to inform – where common knowledge can strengthen common action.
- to care – for each other, our communities and the world
- to choose – the changes we need to make and the commitments which will give us unity and direction
- to plan and prepare - to become a network of good deeds rather than just one of good intentions.
Some of us have been organizing these New Years gatherings since we were teenagers. This time we would especially like to invite those of you between 20 – 35 years to take part. We know already that three young women from Russia, Lebanon and Kenya will come. We are hoping that many of you from other European countries will join us.
During our days we will have time to meet all together and in groups, to reflect and pray, to play and walk and talk, to go skiing and sledging, to share a good meal, to plan projects and sing, to explore the beautiful nature, to be silent and have a good laugh, to create and enjoy art, to celebrate and welcome the new year together.
